Today we had another 160 Km drive ahead of us, as usual (by now), we had a long stretch of narrow winding road to drive. As we we driving the car GPS warned us that the road ahead was closed for roadworks. Since we got such a warning before and then the road was not closed we decided to take the risk and continue. As we got closer to the roadblock we saw many more signs in Japanese and since we had no data connection we were unable to translate what was displayed. When we got to the road works we asked the “flagman” if it was OK to pass and it was. Probable the roadworks were the reason we had almost no oncoming traffic so the driving wasn’t too bad.
We finally made it to Yasui Gorge so where we went for a hike along the river. There are also a few waterfalls in the gorge. It was partly cloudy today but whenever the sun reached into the gorge the deep blue color of the water made it a beautiful sight.
While our next stop was not far away in a straight line it took 45 minutes to get to Niko Deep a hidden waterfall and pond where we had to descend a lot of stairs to get down from the road above. Here too the water has a deep blue color with the waterfall in the background.
To return to the hotel we took the better road (still max 40 and 50Km/h) and Expressway (80Km/h)
Tomorrow we leave Ehime prefecture and go North to Hiroshima prefecture.
