Yesterday the weather report predicted a whole day of rain but in the morning the outlook had changed to cloudy and dry between 10 and 2 in the afternoon. We first went to Yuushien Garden a large garden most celebrated for its peony flowers and features several traditional landscape garden elements, including a central pond, waterfalls, streams, stone lanterns, a rock garden and a variety of seasonal flowers.
As we continued our tour we stopped at the Eshima Ohashi Bridge which is steep and from a distance it looks like a rollercoaster. Using a telelens the effect is magnified.
The main goal for today’s outing was Mizuki Shigeru Road, an 800-meter-long arcade with some 153 bronze statues of Mizuki’s fantasy creatures on display, including details on each character.
We were back in the hotel in the afternoon, in time for visiting a Japanese “patisserie” and Matsue Castle. By then some light drizzle started so once again we were lucky it stayed dry for almost the entire day. Let’s hope tomorrow’s weather is better than forecast.
