After breakfast we started our first full day exploring with a visit of Ryozen-ji, the starting point of the Shikoku Pilgrimage . This epic 1,400-kilometer journey takes pilgrims to 88 temples scattered across Shikoku.
We then made our way to Takamatsu where more than 270 bonsai specialists are concentrated in “Bonsai Village”. Along the narrow streets we saw many bonsai nurseries and some of them we went in for a closer look.
Next on the list was one of Japan’s most beautiful gardens, Ritsurin Koen in the center of Takamatsu. As this time of year the cherry blossoms are in full bloom and the park was busy with people admiring the flowering trees. A short distance away we walked around the grounds of the former Takamatsu Castle where only a corner Tower is still standing.
Aha !
Toch roze blommekes .
