We adjusted to the 7 hour time difference quiet well having no problems falling asleep but we woke up without needing an alarm clock in the morning. That meant we were up and ready well on time to get to Tokyo station to get our tickets for the Nozomi Shinkansen to Osaka. 2.5 hours and 5 stops later we were 500Km further with just a 200m walk to the Nissan office to pick up our car.
We filled in the paperwork, checked the car for existing damage and got on our way through town to the highway to Tokushima. Along the way, on Awaji island, we made a stop at the Awaji Ningyo Joruri Museum. The museum is on the 1st floor above the town’s library and is free to visit. The exhibition is dedicated to preserving the traditional Japanese puppet theater, Awaji Ningyo Joruri. We learned about the history of the art form and saw puppet displays and even had the pleasure of getting a “private tour” as we were the only ones there and staff, who spoke very little English were eager to tell us all about the displays.
A short distance further we crossed the Onaruto bridge and stopped at the Uzu no Michi, a walkway underneath the bridge with viewing platforms to see the whirlpools below caused by the tides. As we could not plan to be here at the best times (when the tides come in and go out) we had to settle for calmer waters.
It was, as expected, already dark when we reached the hotel. With pleasant 19-22°C temperatures and partly cloudy weather forecast for tomorrow it looks good for our planned tours in the area.
Super! Je hebt duidelijk je roeping gemist!
