Today we drove South from Tokushima to our first stop, the ropeway to the Tairyugi temple, another of the 88 temples for the pilgrims on the Shikoku pilgrimage. As often with hillside temples we still had to climb a lot of stairs to get to the main building.
We continued South to the ocean city of Minami for a visit to the Hiwasa Chelonian Museum. There are several displays with different kinds of turtles. The beach across the street from the museum is where loggerhead turtles come to lay their eggs in Summer. We walked along the beach for a better view of the Tatejima Shrine on the small Tate island. A few kilometers further along the coast some stairs lead to Ebisu cave with a nice view of the ocean.
We made our way back to Tokushima and after parking the car walked to the Bizan Park ropeway for a night view of the city.
In the ropeway building is a 250 seat theater where at 8pm we went to see a performance of the Awaodori Kaikan.
As we walked to Tokushima’s Central Park after the show it was too late to update the blog.
