Because of the extra time we have in Ushuaia we could make this a “lazy Saturday”. After yesterday’s longer day with more activity we could just stroll through town stress free.
It was unusual quiet in the main street as shops close for a few hours in the afternoon. With no special places to go we walked to the harbor and followed the waterfront to a series of statues of polar explorers, the first one was that of Belgian de Gerlache who traveled to Antarctica on the Belgica.
At the naval base is a maritime museum which we didn’t go in as they didn’t allow backpacks. We then slowly made our way back to the other side of town
Via the main street, Avenida San Martin, and later along the water we arrived at the Southernmost Radio Club in the world. No one was there but I left my QSL card in their mailbox. At least I got to see their impressive antenna farm.
After a quick stop at the supermarket we were back at our apartment.
For dinner we went to the Hard Rock Cafe again.
