At 8:30 we were on the road again. The first stop was Lake Towada from where we drove upstream along to the Oirase stream. There are several waterfalls and rapids over a 9Km stretch of road but only a few places to park.
We found a parking spot after about 2 Km and walked another Kilometer upstream and back, stopping for photo’s and video along the way. We then drove to the farthest point and walked 1.5 Km downstream and back. There were several warning signs that bears were seen recently but we didn’t see any.
We continued our drive through beautiful coloured trees to Onuma Pond. A wooden boardwalk took us around the pond that was surrounded by colourful trees. As we were approaching the “golden hour” the colours were even brighter.
It took more than an hour to get to our next hotel in Morioka, so again we arrived in total darkness.
