It was cloudy when we left Te Anau and very soon it started to rain again. As we got closer to Queenstown the weather improved a little bit and we even got some sunshine. Traffic in Queenstown was the worst we’ve seen since arriving in New Zealand, there as even a small traffic jam in the town center. Once we got out of town driving to Glenorchy we were once again almost alone on the road.
In Glenorchy we had booked a 4×4 tour to get to the end of Paradise Road. This area is used for several movies, the most famous one being Lord of the Rings. Part of the valley and mountains belong to farm where Angus cattle and sheep are raised.
After three hours we were back at the carpark and set off to Arrowtown where we would stay for the night. We did an evening walk through Old Arrowtown which looks like an old western town before the sun went down.
