We woke up under a cloudy sky and rain was expected in the afternoon. From our beach house we had to drive 33Km to Todoroki falls . The last 15 Km were, again, along a narrow winding road and as we got closer the car GPS warned us that the road ahead was closed. A little later we saw several signs in red Japanese letters but since we had no signal we couldn’t translate. An oncoming car stopped and the driver began talking to us but unfortunately we couldn’t understand a thing. We were able to get the information that the waterfall was accessible so we just continued and at the roadworks we found that men were working at the side of the road. At the small Todoroki falls parking lot there was no-one around so we had a quiet walk uphill to the falls, as always there was also a shrine close by.
We returned via the same road and passed the beach house again on the way to Kochi. Before going to our hotel we went to visit the Ryugado Cave just East of the city. Access to the entrance was made easy with a very long escalator. The route in the cave is about 1 Km long and uphill. At a few places passages were narrow and low but it was well worth the effort. At the end, in the last big hall there was a nice lightshow.
It took a further 30 minutes to get to the center of Kochi.
