Not a lot we ‘have’ to do today except driving to the Lemonthyme Lodge near Craddle mountain. Eventhough we started off with plenty of fuel we were warned that the closest ‘services’ are in Queenstown, an extra 100 Km passed Cradle Mountain. The car’s computer made us aware we wouldn’t make it so we made a small detour to Watanah to fill up. The town looked like a deserted western town but the petrol station guy said to drive further up the street for view of the town’s waterfall, as we did that we also found a memorial for soldiers who died in WW I in Belgium right across the street from a German named hotel.
We continued to Lemonthyme where we checked in and went for a 6 Km hike to Champagne and Bridal Vail Falls. Part of the track was very steep climbing but fortunately it was worth it.
After dinner at the lodge, there’s nothing else in a 50Km radius, we watched the pademelons being fed with the restaurant’s leftover vegetables.
As there is no internet access (and no cell coverage) there is no way to post to the blog.
