Only a short report today and no photos as we have internet problems at our hotel, the connection reset every few seconds, so I’m on the travelSIM data that will have to last until the end of the holiday.
We were on the road at 8:15 for a first stretch of 100 Km to Tokashidake. As we came closer we the scenery changed to mountainous roads a colored trees. We got up a viewing platform from where we saw a active streaming volcano. Just 15 minutes away we had our next stop, the blue pond. We were lucky with the weather as the clear blue sky made the water bright blue, reflecting the trees on the other side.
Hagoromo falls is just 4 Kilometers away but on the other side of the mountain so it took 30 minutes to get there. We parked at the end of the road and walked 600 meters to the largest waterfall in Hokkaido,. Here too we were surrounded by colorful trees.
The final stop of the day was Asahidake ropeway. In 10 minutes the cable car took us too 1600 meters above sea level. We could then hike a loop trail that brought us close the vents that blew hot steam high in the air.
Back down we had an hour long drive ahead of us to Asahikawa. We again arrived in the dark during evening rush hour .
