When we woke up it was cloudy but by the time we had breakfast and were packed it was raining already. We decided to go the Nigardsbreen anyway but once we arrived at the parking we just stepped out of the car for a few quick photo’s and video. As we didn’t have a big distance to travel today, after the Manheller – Fodnes ferry, we made a detour to visit the Borgund Stave Kirke. By now the rain was only intermittent and by the time we rejoined our original route in Laerdal the rain had stopped.
This was just in time for a walk around Gamle Lærdalsøyri, an old part of Lærdal with historic wooden buildings.
To get to our accommodation we continued along the E16 which disappears into the mountain only to reappear 24.5 Km further in Aurdal. It’s the longest roadtunnel in the world.
