It was 20° already in the morning but overcast as we drove up the mountain on the toll road to Dalsnibba the 1500 meter high viewpoint overlooking Geiranger Fjord. The wind was blowing strong so we didn’t stay long.
Although Briksdalbre is only 116 Km away it takes over 2 hours to get there as the final stretch of road is very narrow with passing areas. We parked at the start of the 2.5 Km trail to the glacier we visited 37 years ago. According to the info boards the glacier continued to expand until 1996 (it reached into the lake in 1985) and then receded a lot so it can’t be reached anymore from the walkway.
