We had planned to walk around the lake in Bled, a distance of about 6Km but in the end, including a few small detours, the GPS showed about 16Km when we arrived back at our accommodation. The first thing we did was to get on a pletna boat to Bled Island for a short visit. Once we returned we followed the path along the lake for a while until there was another path leading to a viewpoint higher up. Even though the distance to the viewpoint was only 300m away “as the crow flies”, we had to climb 160m over a rocky path with tree roots sticking out so the return trip took more than an hour. At least the view was worth it.
From then on it was easy going until we got to the castle where we had another climb ahead, this time it was a well maintained, mostly concrete path. After visiting the castle it was all downhill except for the last few hundred meters back to our accommodation.
