We always keep track of the weather and it seems that starting tomorrow the sunny, warm, dry days will be over and rain and clouds are on the way starting around noon. That’s why instead of just going to Maribor today and making a detour to Velika Planina on our way to Ljubljana, we decided to go to the Velika plateau today. We parked at the cable car station from where we were taken to about 1500 meter. There we took the chairlift up to 1660m to the plateau..
Velika Planina is an area with wooden herdsmen’s cottages where cows roam free. There’s a little chapel on one of the hills and in some cottages are restaurants or café’s.
Back at the lower cable car station we realized there was still time to make a detour via Maribor on the way back to the hotel. We were able to walk around the part of town with the most interesting buildings.
