After breakfast Tony picked us up for drive of almost 3 hours to Volunteer Point, the last hour and a half at walking pace in 4×4 mode.
At this remote spot we found a large colony of King penguins. These are the largest penguins we have seen and also the most beautiful. There were many chicks with brown feathers while others were already getting their black and white colors and distinctive yellow/orange spots and collar.
We wandered around for 3 hours and had lunch before we had to get back to Stanley the same way we came. As we were about an hour away from Stanley, dark clouds formed and we even got a rain shower. We had a very short stop at the site where an Argentinian helicopter was destroyed and were then dropped off at the local diner.
By then it was time to get back go the B&B and pack our things for the flight back to Rio Gallegos tomorrow afternoon.
Around 7 I got a visitor, John, VP8CWQ came for a short meeting talking ham radio, geocaching and traveling.
