We had to get up early today. Breakfast at 6:30 and in the car by 7:00 in order to be ready to board the boat at the Perito Moreno that would take us to the base of the glacier for a “mini trekking”.
Before we could walk on the glacier we had to put on crampons so we would have a good grip on the ice. For 1.5 hour we followed narrow trails across the ice with photo stops whenever there were nice views. At the end we were offered whisky and water “on the rocks “.
After the boat brought us back we continued to the galleries, an extensive boardwalk with viewing platforms to get a good view of the glacier. When we got back to the car there was a fox walking around the parking lot. On the way back to El Calafate we stopped for a moment at the Elefantes, rocks that look like elephants.
To end the day we had an Argentinian steak for dinner.
