No booked trips means relaxing without a timeframe. We walked along the waterfront to the Laguna Las Ninfas at the edge of town. It’s a lagoon with fresh water that is fed by the ocean when the tides come in. Along the mangroves a boardwalk makes it easy to walk 3/4 of the lagoon.
We continued to the large pier where we took the watertaxi to the path leading to Las Grietas, a narrow canyon with clear water where people come to snorkel. Along the path is an iguana nesting area and a small beach. A bit further ocean water sometimes flows into a basin, sun and wind then evaporates the water leaving salt to be collected.
We took an afternoon break to get away from the heat just as the locals do and only went back outside after 15:30.
