It was only a short drive today to Taupo but we had a few things to see before arriving at our B&B in the evening.
First stop was Orakei Korako where a small boat took us across the river to the geothermal area with silica covered rock, geysers, hot spring and mud pools. Again we were lucky that the moment we parked our car the rain stopped and the sun came out. About half an hour away we visited Craters of the moon where we saw many more steam vents and craters blowing steam in the air under high pressure.
Last on the list were the impressive Huka Falls where 200000 liters of bright blue water falls down 9m every second.
We ended the day in the most special McDonalds we’ve ever seen. A DC-3 in the middle of town.
